Demon Hunter In Store Performance

by Erica Yary - June 5th, 2008

To Die For put together a great experience at Temecula Active this past weekend. To Die For advocates, the band, Demon Hunter (the secret performer of the day) took an early morning stop on their busy sold out tour to play their first ever acoustic performance! Everyone in attendance was treated to a smooth song list they reworked just for us, a departure from their normal gnarley super heavy sound. Fans were treated to original posters and rad discounts on To Die For Clothing. After the performance the crew sat down and slapped hands with all the homies! A big thanks to the To Die For crew and Demon Hunter for making this a huge success!! Now don’t miss the next performance at Mission Viejo Active with the band Never Enough. Check out the flyer for more details.

Active Ladies Talk Shop

by Trieste Graham - June 5th, 2008

On May 16th 50 of the Active Shop Ladies invaded the corporate office for our First Semi-Annual Shop Talk Event. Four of our top Vendors; Hurley, Roxy, Billabong, RVCA and Element pre-lined the Holiday ’08 Collections for the girls to choose their favorite styles and give their overall feedback. Each attendee was asked to fill out a Buyer’s Guide for each Vendor Line they saw, which will help the Purchasing, Marketing and Private Label Departments to narrow in on who are customer is and what she wants. The 50 Ladies were divided into three Teams, The Fashion Team, The Style Team and the Icon Team. Each vendor gave three consecutive presentations so all three Teams could view the line separately, while earning points for their team by answering questions. Elsie and Brandi our Women’s Buyers covered Sales and Strategies alongside Lauren, our designer who covered the Active Women’s Fall and Holiday lines. Foam Magazine also spoke about the Upcoming Launch of the New Direction and Look of the Magazine and the girls were able to ask question regarding Fashion, Art, Music and Careers. To tie the entire event together we had a Style It Walk Off between the three teams. The girls were given 15 minutes to put three looks together that represent the Active Girls while incorporating a piece from each Vendor’s Holiday Line. Although the competition was stiff the Winner by far was the Fashion Team! The final count was Fashion Team: 46, Icon Team: 43 and the Style Team: 36. Overall the event was a huge success and we appreciate all the Girls coming out!

Element Eden Advocate Brooke Reidt

by Mark Spider - March 14th, 2008

Los Angeles based artist Brooke Reidt helped define the Element Eden Advocate program in 2005 and her work is featured on many of the pieces in the current Element collection. Her style is always changing as she continues to grow and learn from every new experience and she incorporates all of her surroundings into each piece of art she creates.

While attending the prestigious Pasadena Art Center College of Design, Brooke also finds time to be a part of shows across the country and spends a lot of her energies finding ways to give back to her community in creative ways. In fact, if you purchase one of her pieces or attend one of her shows, you may be inadvertently giving back yourself.

TOMS Shoes ‘Give’ Event

by Erica Yary - March 12th, 2008

Toms shoes, probably the best business concept of the double O! You buy a pair of these super chill ninja sneakers and some child in a third world country gets a pair too. Everybody wins! That being said it was only logical for Active to team up with the crew to host a killer fundraiser event for all to enjoy the Toms love. With Red Bull jumping on board in a big way, the date was set for February 24th, the location Active Westwood, and the event was dubbed ?Give?.

Vans Footwear Ladies Day Out

by Mark Spider - July 8th, 2007

On June 28th a handful of the Active Girls traveled down to Laguna Beach to the Montage Resort and Spa to have an afternoon of previewing the Vans line and pampering ourselves. We indulged ourselves with Sprinkles cupcakes, sparkling lemonade and manicures on the balcony overlooking Laguna Beach. The girls were able to mingle with other retailers as well as the Marketing and Sales team from Vans footwear. It was a relaxing afternoon where our hard working girls enjoyed the special attention on them. It was a great event to share with Peg seeing as it was one of her final days with the team; and as always she is the life of the party!

Hurley 70s Skate Night

by Mark Spider - July 5th, 2007

On June 26th the Active ladies met up with the Hurley team to have a girl’s night out. Hurley had food and drinks and previewed the Holiday ‘07 Women’s Line for all the girls to see. Among the great food and snacks the girls also received a Hurley gift bag before then began to board the Hurley RV Bus. The Hurley RV took the party to the Orange rolling Rink to skate the night away and that is exactly what we did. There were a couple spills and a couple thrills, but all and all we looked like novices! Both the Active and Hurley ladies were dressed to impress in their retro gear circa 1972. Peg took the cake with a disco fever jumpsuit and go-go boots to match. Lindsey wasn’t far behind in a neon uni-tard dancing her way across the room. Needless to say the girls brought their A-game to the event; they were on fire!

Hurley gave away three $200.00 gift certificates to the Hurley store for the best dressed 70’s moteph. The awards went to Peg and Elyse from Mission Viejo and Violet from Riverside. Well done and well deserved ladies! Thank you for all the support and a great time!

Nelly Furtado Contest

by Mark Spider - May 5th, 2007

We held our Nelly Furtado contest online and in Active locations and got a huge response. There were over 2 thousand entries from people all over trying to win a ‘Night Out With Nelly Furtado’. The winner that we selected at random was Daisy Lang who was excited about winning the grand prize, which included: 2 tickets to Nelly Furtado’s concert at the Greek Theatre, limo transportation to and from the concert, a meet and greet with the fabulous Nelly Furtado, dinner before the show, a Vestal watch, Von Zipper sunglasses and accessories, an Obey clothing package, a $250 Active gift card, and a Geffen and Mosley music package.

Daisy and her guest for the night had a great time at the concert and hanging out with Nelly. They even got to toast with champagne to Nelly’s recent achievements in music. Congratulations to Daisy and thank you to all the sponsors involved who made this a memorable evening for all involved!
