Southern California- it can be considered summertime all year here. But to us southern Californians, we feel that chill in the winter, especially on our feet that are so used to sandals and sun. Well get ready to fight that chill back with EMU boots! (more…)
On September 4, 2008 Active opened it’s 27th store in southern California. This new store has an amazing location right next to Petco Park in downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp District. This isn’t just another store though, it’s the Active image; this store represents the Active lifestyle and tastes and really showcases who we are. The store opening happened to fall on the same weekend as the ASR Tradeshow taking place at the convention center and so in sync with ASR and to help welcome the new store Active hosted a party that night. There was also the added plus of an awesome in-store performance by Terry Kennedy. Check out the photos and come check out the new store!
Toms Shoes is a unique company that gives back to those in need. For every pair a customer buys TOMS donates a pair to children in other countries who are in need. Since 2006 TOMS has given over 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina and 50,000 pairs of shoes to children in South Arica and are continuing towards a goal of 200,000 pairs of shoes to children around the world who are in need by the end of 2008. The amazing cause and dedication of TOMS Shoes has caught the eye of the fashion world. What started out as a simple style that wasn’t at all fashion forward has become just that. Their shoes are now seen everyday so many people and they’ve expanded on their colors and prints to offer a great selection and to catch the attention of new customers. Recently they’ve stepped into the fashion scene even further with the Wrap boot, the same TOMS Shoes idea, but in the boot form. These are starting to be seen on the streets and are becoming popular favorites. Want to get some and take part in the TOMS cause? Check out Active’s website here as well as visit the stores for your Wrap Boot purchase!

On Saturday, July 27th, 2008. Insight brought the party or should I say the Bonner to Costa Mesa Camp! The night was to celebrate the new partnership with one of Active’s most exciting brands and to showcase their holiday line. The atmosphere was set with the ever so artistic Dopamine campaign framed and hung around the event, and Insight’s very own Justin Reynolds on the turn tables mixing it up for all the peeps. The definite highlight to the evening was the “Watch the Green Ball” event coordinated by the one and only Bonner. The best way to describe this event would be Hacksack on Mountain Dew, it was extreme, all I have to say is watch your drink. Thanks to all that came out and thank you to Insight for great evening, long live the Bonner!!!!
The Hurley Tonka Dress has been spotted on Rachel Bilson and the Hurley Frenzy Cami is a stylish steal!
Part of being a female is being obsessed with what the stars wear. If they’re wearing it, then we want it, right? Of course at an affordable price though. Hurley is one of those great brands that everyone loves and can be found at a great price. Hurley bags, tops dresses, etc. are being featured in many fashion forward magazines such as US Weekly, InTouch, Self, and Seventeen. Rachel Bilson was seen wearing the Hurley Tonka dress paired with a great scarf, sheer tights, boots and a color popping bag. This dress can be worn in multiple fashions, such as how Rachel pulled it off or keeping it simple with a great flat sandal and some bold accessories for pop. The capped sleeves and round neckline make it a great casual piece, and the keyhole back gives it a unique touch. The empire waist is emphasized by the tie belt and the side seam pockets are a hidden extra! Hurley product is being highlighted and showcased everywhere. Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong were spotted at the Hurley show at the Laguna Art Museum. The Hurley Frenzy Cami was highlighted in US Weekly’s June 30, 2008 volume as a “Stylish Steal”. Better yet, the website to find it on was none other than activerideshop.com! This is a great summer piece because of the cool style and color-blocking pattern. The bright bold color choices make a statement and the A-line cut is flattering to many figures. The strap design goes to a thin “Y” racer back adding a sophisticated touch, perfect for a night out! If you’re looking to dress like the stars for a great price, start with Hurley!

Denim is an American phenomenon that never gets old; it just keeps getting better and bolder. It’s all about the way you wear it; some tend to use denim as scapegoat when they don’t know what to wear, which is understandable but please keep it simple- less is more. For example look at David Duchovny and Tea Leoni in this duo denim disaster and one of our favorite Spice girls, Gerri Halliwell is not looking so well in this frumpy denim don’t. Denim is great if you wear it with style and ease; it shouldn’t look painful. Please don’t double up on denim; at least not in the exact same wash.
Los Angeles based artist Brooke Reidt helped define the Element Eden Advocate program in 2005 and her work is featured on many of the pieces in the current Element collection. Her style is always changing as she continues to grow and learn from every new experience and she incorporates all of her surroundings into each piece of art she creates.
While attending the prestigious Pasadena Art Center College of Design, Brooke also finds time to be a part of shows across the country and spends a lot of her energies finding ways to give back to her community in creative ways. In fact, if you purchase one of her pieces or attend one of her shows, you may be inadvertently giving back yourself.
