Toms shoes, probably the best business concept of the double O! You buy a pair of these super chill ninja sneakers and some child in a third world country gets a pair too. Everybody wins! That being said it was only logical for Active to team up with the crew to host a killer fundraiser event for all to enjoy the Toms love. With Red Bull jumping on board in a big way, the date was set for February 24th, the location Active Westwood, and the event was dubbed ?Give?.
If you were present for the performance at Active Westwood you were one of the lucky people who got to witness Matt Costa and his band who are only getting more and more popular. Matt was gracious enough to play a free set prior to leaving on tour for the LA crowd that made it into Active that day. Matt’s new cd Unfamiliar Faces is now in stores and available on iTunes so make sure you pick up a copy today! Check out Matt Costa’s website to see when he is coming to a town nearest you.

On December 9th, Active hosted an exclusive ladies event at 22 locations from San Diego to Los Angeles to enjoy an evening of great shopping, holiday sweets and free giveaways from Active, Matix, Element and more. Active Long Beach, Active San Dimas and Active Temecula gave away a Paul Frank Bike for the Grand Prize of the night. Tom’s was kind enough to come down to the Long Beach location to set up a decorating station for all the Active employees and customers to paint and custom design their own Tom’s shoes. The Element Eden Advocates, Brooke Reidt and Mataji Booker met up with Tom’s artitst, Erik Benjamins to help design some prize winning shoes which were raffled off at the end of the night. Each store raffled off a Gift Basket valued at over $500 with product from WESC, DVS, Roxy, Stussy and more. Tees and gift bags with Active product and Magazines from Seventeen and Damsel were given to the first 25 Ladies to make a purchase. The night was a huge success and we thank all of our Vendors and Customers for joining the Christmas Festivities.
invited to the Element office to preview the Element Eden Spring 2008 line, coming out at the end of November. We were treated to hors d’ ouvres and beverages as Element guest speakers, including founder and President Johnny Schillereff and designers Wendy Choi and Filipa DaSilva, spoke on their goals, ideas and experiences at ElementElement goodies were given away and Rancho Cucamonga Active employee Kellie Hall walked away from the raffle with a one-of-a-kind Beck(y) clutch. A huge thanks goes out to the Element team for hosting a great event for all the Active Ladies. Make sure to check back often to view the Element Eden Collection that Active has to offer both online and in store.
On June 28th a handful of the Active Girls traveled down to Laguna Beach to the Montage Resort and Spa to have an afternoon of previewing the Vans line and pampering ourselves. We indulged ourselves with Sprinkles cupcakes, sparkling lemonade and manicures on the balcony overlooking Laguna Beach. The girls were able to mingle with other retailers as well as the Marketing and Sales team from Vans footwear. It was a relaxing afternoon where our hard working girls enjoyed the special attention on them. It was a great event to share with Peg seeing as it was one of her final days with the team; and as always she is the life of the party!
On June 26th the Active ladies met up with the Hurley team to have a girl’s night out. Hurley had food and drinks and previewed the Holiday ‘07 Women’s Line for all the girls to see. Among the great food and snacks the girls also received a Hurley gift bag before then began to board the Hurley RV Bus. The Hurley RV took the party to the Orange rolling Rink to skate the night away and that is exactly what we did. There were a couple spills and a couple thrills, but all and all we looked like novices! Both the Active and Hurley ladies were dressed to impress in their retro gear circa 1972. Peg took the cake with a disco fever jumpsuit and go-go boots to match. Lindsey wasn’t far behind in a neon uni-tard dancing her way across the room. Needless to say the girls brought their A-game to the event; they were on fire!
Hurley gave away three $200.00 gift certificates to the Hurley store for the best dressed 70’s moteph. The awards went to Peg and Elyse from Mission Viejo and Violet from Riverside. Well done and well deserved ladies! Thank you for all the support and a great time!
