Whitey produced music video

by robbiesell - October 31st, 2008

Remember the Kingpin movies?  Or do you remember them as Whitey’s movies?  Some of the Active team used to film with him too; guys like Iikka Backstrom, Andreas Wiig, Scotty Wittlake, and others.  That guy Whitey moved on from making some of the best snowboard movies and is now doing straight hollywood stuff.  Here’s a rad video he made of Red Fang from Portland, OR.    http://pitchfork.tv/videos/red-fang-prehistoric-dog

pedal people

by robbiesell - October 13th, 2008

We’re still pedaling our bikes down hwy 101.  We’ve made it 500 miles so far, crossed the OR/CA border, and stayed in Arcata last night.  This town is cool; a good mix of hippies and punk rockers.  Zac Marben would have totally fit in.  He was originally supposed to go on this trip with us, but bailed the last second.  He would have been a fun camping buddy, since he’s a gypsy type already. Pierre has been telling me about his new People film project with Justin Eels, Gabe L’heureux, & Cory Koniniec, and it’s going to be great.  They aren’t under the Mack Dawg umbrella any more and are going independent.  I’ll have more news on that real soon; big news for snowboard movie fans! I just got confirmation of getting credentials into the Icer Air contest in SF on the 18th.   I saw some photos from Andy Wright of last years contest, wild shit.  I bet the pre and after parties will be insane too.  Perfect timing for the end of my bicycle tour.Well, I’m off for some more biking.  Stay tuned for when I show the photos from this trip; some real jems I tell ya.  Adios!

I’ve only got a second here on this coffee shop free internet…

Pierre Minhondo, Justin “boosty”, and I are day 4 into a bike (pedal) tour down the west coast.  We started in Astoria, OR (Washington border) and are going to San Francisco via hwy 101.

More info to come soon, if my legs don’t give out or a car doesn’t hit me.

Yeehaw!!!

Chill up with the Active crew! In this video we visit a church in Poway as they say goodbye to their little mini bowl/ramp. Active hosted a BBQ and best trick contest/runs in the jammers. The ramp may be leaving, but it’s spirit will only return stronger. Anyway peep the video of the local action.

Sicktionary By Snowboarder Magazine

by brent.futagaki - July 9th, 2008

Shaun White has probably spent more time on his skate and snowboards since he was born than just about anyone in history, and it shows. Yet how much of what goes on around him does he really take in. ? Some would argue that Shaun is the most influential rider in the history of our sport. T, but that being said, the question remains, —how much of our sport’s culture has Shaun himself been influenced by and retained? This month’s Sicktionary is a little Snowboarding, and Skateboarding, Aptitude Test, or S.S.A.T, if you will. How well would you have fared?
-Pat Bridges

Snowboarder Mag:
How many people can ride a tT-bar?
Shaun White: Two. My mom tried to ride one in Europe and it slipped out and hit her lip, cracking a tooth.
Snowboarder Mag:
Correct. T-Bars are surface lifts that carry two people.

Snowboarder Mag:
What is bevel?
Shaun White:
I am pretty sure it is the angle you want your rails.
Snowboarder Mag:
Correct. It is when you tune your edges to be something other than 90 degrees to help with jibbing or turn initiation.
