by TallTodd - September 30th, 2008

Signal’s new Park Series wins prestigious top board model of the summer award at HCSC!“Signal won the prestigious top board model of the summer award, with the Park Series. The Demo Center could not keep these boards in stock with many campers requesting them as soon as they showed up at camp. This evaluation shows that Signal has the highest brand utility by a large percentage.  It was often that Signal boards were completely out of stock. The recurring demo of these soft, easy to ride, boards, kept campers coming back, telling their friends to get on some Signal too.”  - HCSC 2008 Demo Report High Cascade Snowboard Camp is one of the best places to enjoy (more…)

Check out the lastest lingo from Snowboarder Magazine’s Sicktionary post.

Spotting (Spa- – Tting): In the middle of your trick, Llooking down in the middle of your trick to find your landing. Spotting on your genitalia is not as beneficial to your health.

Black and White (Bla-k – Kuh and Why- – tuh): Photos that lack color… … but not depth. “Tones” is the term used to discuss the shades of black, greygray, and white in each shot. Saying that snowboarders are “toned” is kind of a grey gray matter.

Grain (Grey- nuh): Texture or fuzz on film. High High-speed films, super Super 8, and 16mm have more grain than “slower” films (such as 100, or 200 speed film). If horses were pulling Nicolas, they would be fast, and would have eaten a lot of grain.

Shaun White has probably spent more time on his skate and snowboards since he was born than just about anyone in history, and it shows. Yet how much of what goes on around him does he really take in. ? Some would argue that Shaun is the most influential rider in the history of our sport. T, but that being said, the question remains, —how much of our sport’s culture has Shaun himself been influenced by and retained? This month’s Sicktionary is a little Snowboarding, and Skateboarding, Aptitude Test, or S.S.A.T, if you will. How well would you have fared?
-Pat Bridges

Snowboarder Mag:
How many people can ride a tT-bar?
Shaun White: Two. My mom tried to ride one in Europe and it slipped out and hit her lip, cracking a tooth.
Snowboarder Mag:
Correct. T-Bars are surface lifts that carry two people.

Snowboarder Mag:
What is bevel?
Shaun White:
I am pretty sure it is the angle you want your rails.
Snowboarder Mag:
Correct. It is when you tune your edges to be something other than 90 degrees to help with jibbing or turn initiation.

Back in 2001 we with the help of a lot of others, made a snowboard movie.  We did not set out to change the way snowboard movies were made, but rather showcase an entire team as ONE.  We contacted our good friend Neil Goss to see if he still had a copy of the One video.  We will be releasing clips from this movie over the coming weeks, so be sure to check back for the video parts of your favorite Active riders from the past and the present.

Mack Dawg’s new snowboard video, “Double Decade”, looks pretty legit. I can’t believe “Decade” was 10 years ago, it was the first snowboard video I ever saw. Not only did it make me fall in love with snowboarding, but it made me start wearing big chains, baggy snow pants with suspenders hanging off, and crooked goggles on top of my head, I looked kinda like this: (more…)

SNOWBOARDER MAGAZINE?s Sicktionary: September 2007

This photo was taken in Qu?bec City on my first filming trip of the year. They had plenty of snow, which allowed us to get creative and do some different things. It was a fun setup. Here I am doing a wallride to fakie. Eddie Wall, Nic Sauv?, and I got to hit it for a few hours before it got too dark. We all got something on it, so that was a plus.-Jake Welch

Qu?bec City (Kuh-beck Sit-ee) noun The capital of the Canadian province of Qu?bec, it holds a metric population of 528,595. As Canada?s answer to Salt Lake City, Qu?bec?s rails and ledges are shaping some of today?s most notorious jibbers, including LNP, Nic Sauv?, Ben Bilocq, Max Baillargeon, Marie-France Roy, Frank April, Charles Gagnon, Will Lavigne, etc., etc.
