Simi Valley has an amazing skateboard landmark. The Skate Lab! Every skate vagabond needs to make a pilgrimage there to enrich their knowledge of skateboarding. It’s not only an amazing skate park wonderland, it also holds a nice skateboard museum. We’re talking old decks, mag covers, poster, etc. Go see? it for? yourselves. http://skatelab.com/Teaming up w/ the Skate Lab Active played host to a few best trick contest. Winners received a healthy box of promo from Active. Frijoles Blancos was in the house slapin’ on tattoos and causing a ruckus (the guy’s a dummy!). Big thanks to Todd and the entire Skatelab crew for putting us on and Fallen for supplying the free hoodies for the kiddies. The homies @ Hurley opened the doors to their recently built team park to all Active riders and employees. The park is gnarley! All the trannies are set with pool coping and the ledges with cement action. Check out the colorful artwork by Kris Markovich on the parks walls while the likes of Josh Borden and Theotis Beasley get down on it! Honorable mention goes to Anthony Pshebelski for laying down some great maneuvers dude! Big thanks to Astorga and Mangan for setting things up.

Really pumped on this park! The Hessians rolled through the park last summer and experience the spray paint- street surfers first hand. The locals always keep the energy high and the steelo even higher. We couldn’t hold off until summer to go back. Throwing down a best trick contest was the best way to get our fix. Check out the vid and watch how the boys crank it up on the three block! Long Beach!

?We loaded up the Van with the Chino shop riders, tossed in some of the homies for good measure, and headed down to the Chino Park for a night of hand slappin’, hootin’ & hollerin’! We split the boys into two teams, the black team and the white team. Each team was awarded 1 point for landing a decent trick. I think there was some foul play w/ the scoring! Tell you what; you make your own count of the tricks landed by each team and let us know what really happened!?

Note: The riders are separated by the colors they are wearing: white or black. Whether it’s a tee, bandana, ninja hood, or hanky off the back pocket!?

Our good friends at Black Box Distribution opened up their amazing park for all of the Active employees and riders. This park is a huge dreamscape filled with all the right components to make any skateboard happy and make some skateboarders poopie their pants! Yeah, I said skateboard. They have feeling too you know! Anywho… Black Box’s own Kevin Kosha fit the bill for the most amazing pizza and Haney put together this hear video of all the action! Black Box also threw down a ton of gear for those in attendance and decks for the boys ripping hard throughout the night! Shouts go to Daniel Rodriguez, Saul, Arturo, Dakota, Anthony, and all the rest!! Keep ripping boys and we’ll keep providing the action!!

P.S. The Black Box dudes are the most goodest dudes around!! Thanks again Black Box for sharing what is your daily amazingness!

Where do I start? This was a super long day. Or at least it felt like that. Billy called me and told me to be at his house at 9am the next day, I asked him why so early, and he said, “you’ll see.” I had to leave my house at 7:45am to make sure I got there on time, with no idea of what to expect. I thought we’d go to a spot and film Billy doing cabflips down 10, or nollie laserflips up euro gaps, or something similar to that. I had no idea Billy loved beer so much. Anyway, I get there, and this dude answers the door in a wrestling mask, and takes me to a fridge full of beer. Amazing! I remember him saying it was 150 beers. And I found out, his goal was to drink all of them by the end of the day. I did learn one thing from this experience though, it is hard to film after drinking all morning, and being hungover by 3pm. Tampa Am has once again come and gone. Every year the talent steps up their game and every year there the competition goes off like a KISS concert, minus the pyrotechnics and the band itself. The judges had the difficult job of scoring some amazing skateboarding and only being able to bring 12 guys to the top. Active had a bunch of guys in the semi finals including John Dickson (who recently won Damn Am Amsterdam) and David Loy but the guys who made it to the finals and placed top 12 were Theotis Beasley and Chris Gregson. Congratulations guys!

Not only were there over 200 guys skating in the 3 days of Tampa madness, there were thunder storms, power outages, bbq’s, an annual moat race and of course all the craziness that goes along with bringing together hundreds of skaters at hotels and downtown parties.

Thanks to the guys at the Skatepark of Tampa for showing being great hosts and for putting on a great contest.

So, this is the 2nd video in a new series of videos we are doing. It isn’t a new idea to do day in the lifes, but hopefully they are entertaining to everyone out there. I went to Johnny Layton’s house in Long Beach around noon, and despite my rolled ankle, managed to follow him with his dog Maggie, they were going so fast, it was super hard to keep up, Johnny ollies this gap every day with the dog pulling him. He said Maggie usually jumps it and then he ollies it. Anyway, hope you like the video. Oh yeah, Johnny showed me his new Vans shoe, its so tight, its got a bunch of colorways, and I saw his new Toy ad, and that kills it as well. Thanks Johnny, for letting us follow you all day.

The Berrics is the brainchild of Steve Berra and Eric Koston who put together an amazing skatepark in which their friends and invitees get to skate. The guys were gracious enough to let us hold the first of a handful of Active Skate Nights at the Berrics. This video shows you a little bit of the rip-a-dee-doo-dah that went down on the street course of destiny. Some special guests making cameos in the video are Billy Marks, Erik Ellington and Steve Berra. Terell Robinson was also in the house but the camera man was already in the editing room when Mr. Robinson showed up! Check out the Active rippers and special guests…
