The new Fontana skate park is the shining light of the So Cal scene right now. The park is amazing and yes you have to wear a helmet, but at least you know the cops aren’t going to corner you and make you feel like a dirt bag when you least expect it. The Action Park Alliance holds down the managing of the park and they have fought hard though out the nation to cut back the full gear pad idea that most cities and insurance companies think is standard practice. Full gear sucks! I can deal with a helmet. Any way, Active was in the house for the opening and we provided a $500 best trick contest, along with a signing with Billy Marks and Johnny Layton. The boys got down a skate gnarly too! The best trick contest was host to all the local heroes. Greg Greene came up with first place by nailing a kickflip backside 5-0 on the kinked ledge to win the big money. Homie didn’t even touch the tail down… that’s balance and a half. Second was Birdhouse rider, local legend “Ghost”, with a frontside 270 lip down the rail. Third place was Dolan with a massive kickflip from way up high. Big shouts to all the boys who got down. It was truly an A caliber contest!! Thanks to all the people who got behind this park! Amazing!! Go skate it Oct 29th 7pm, cuz the Hessians Tour will be dropping by to blow doors of this mutha!!
There’s nothing worse than a super star, with a crappy attitude, promoting your label or name. Luckily for us, we here at Active are blessed to have P Rod reppin’ hard for the big A. Paul Rodriguez has been grinding on the streets with us this past fall big time, trying to get at all the fans who respect his amazing style, ability, and mellow attitude. With every signing producing 200-500 people, one has to sit back and say, “Wow”. The dude is big time for all the right reasons. Reasons like, helping open the a new park in Wilmington CA, winning the Maloof Cup, representing sick on a potentially corny Dew tour on MTV, CBS, etc, which is rare for skateboarders these days and signing for 5 ½ at a Chino Active signing, never once showing frustration. Ok you get the point, the dude is legit! Here’s some photos of the man getting down with the fans at the Brea Active. Enjoy!
Andrew Reynolds, Kenny Hoyle, Garrett Hill, Bryan Herman, Justin Figueroa and Theotis Beasley were all present for the Altamont Team Signing that went down this past Sunday at Active Long Beach. The Fallen Team rolled out to Mission Valley and Escondido Active this past Sunday November 19th. The skateboarders who came out for the day were Jamie Thomas, Chris Cole, James Hardy, Billy Marks, Tommy Sandoval, Josh Harmony, Tony Cervantes, and Matt Bennett. Not only did these guys sign for around 5 hours on Sunday, they brought out hundreds of free Fallen goods for the Fallen Footwear fans who came out to meet them. People walked away with free hoodies, shirts, wristbands, socks, stickers, etc. Fallen knows how to hook up their fans! Check out the photos to see the day’s festivities.
