Check out all the action from the RVCA demo that took place at Active Ride Shop Escondido. Leo Romero and Kevin “Spanky” Long got down it. Spanky, in top form after suffering some injuries this past year. The guy is a straight up biker now, so I don’t know if “Spanky” still applies, but whatever, he’s rad. Let’s change it to “Snake”! Our own Anthony Pshebelski (pronounce She Bell Ski! The P is silent!!) threw down like the hungry Am he is. Look out for him to rule the skate planet. Oh, he’s the young man cranking out the switch front side big heels and wearing the killer head band. I know… I’m a brown noser! Watch the video sucka!!

Iggy is the “Man”! When the “Man” says go to Buena Park’s skate park, you go. Then, the “Man” goes and hooks the kids up with some free Chic-Fil-A chicken sandwiches and a half naked bald man to hype the kids, you have to say to yourself, damn, he is the “Man”. Watch Iggy (the “Man”, wearing white ball cap w/ a red N on the front) and the rest of the locals tear up their own turf!! Buena Park, we will return! Sans the bald guy!! Until then, stop by the Long Beach Active and slap hands w/ Iggy, cuz he’s runnin’ the joint!

Kr3w announces Ramiro “Furby” Salcedo as their newest team member.

If you grew up skating a park that the locals proudly call ?The Dirty?, you grew up in South Central Los Angeles?the city of Hawthorne to be exact. And if you skated non-stop and watched videos of Tom Penny everyday, then maybe, just maybe, you might end up with some pop like Ramiro ?Furby? Salcedo. Seriously, Furbz has been paying dues and killing spots long enough that people have really started to take notice of his smooth style and proper flicks. I mean, how can you not notice a nollie back heel down Carlsbad gap or a nollie flip down that Burbank seven-flat-two? In the words of Antwuan Dixon, ?You tight man, you know it, welcome to the team.?

?S Footwear and Habitat rider, Raymond Molinar, was kind enough to answer a short questioner about his jail stay for Active…

Active: Word around the campfire recently is that you, Dyson and Jose had a brush with the law that landed you both in jail. When, how, and why did this happen?

Raymond: Yeah… it was about two weeks ago when Jose Rojo, Dyson Ramones and I were thrown in the slammer in Austin Texas for skateboarding on private property…we could have avoided the whole situation, but we just kept on skating.

Active: Why did they keep you in jail for so long for skateboarding?

Raymond: We would have gotten out sooner, but Dave Hoang lost his credit card and couldn’t get money out in time to bail us out. So we had to wait til the next day for Dave to get the money to bail us out.

Syndrome Distribution's (Plan B, Silver, and FKD) newly design team park has just been completed!! Active was invited out to get first crack at it before a big Grand Opening for the ASR trade show went down. A lot of new San Diego heads rolled out to join Active riders and employees. These were fresh faced rippers from the recently opened Las Americas, Chula Vista, and Mission Valley Active stores. Everyone came correct w/ big smiles, a healthy appetite for pizzas/ sodas:damn boys slow down, that's heart attack food! Big proper's go to Oscar Agra for coming out of a coma (knocked on the 7, after landing a ton good guys!!) to be awarded the “Ultimate Warrior” for the night. Honorable mentions go out to Daniel Rodriguez, Saul, Mike Runyan, Austin Lycans, Anthony, Dakota, Costa Crew, Tustin homies, and all of the new guys whose names I already forgot, but look forward to getting to know in '08!! And a very special thanks to Dave Andrecht for the invite and for putting the sick “Ultimate Warrior” prize package together, complete with the former WWF character's image all over the box! Rock on brother!! Syndrome park, super fun:

It wouldn't do any justice to Mike Vallely or his millions of fans if we stuck him behind a table w/ a marker to sign for hours! Although Mike is without a doubt the most accessible skateboarder in the world and would sign a million posters, we had to crank it up a bit and have him involved in a demo. Taking it a step further, we threw in the public to skate with him and hopefully draw some blood out of the situation! And draw blood they did!

The stage was set at two lovely parks in Corona. Set around mountains, dairy farms, Huber and Harada skateparks were packed w/ fun loving skateboarders! The young guns got creative, as Mike V. highlighted different obstacles for them to perform maneuvers on. As we moved through each obstacle at the Huber Park it was becoming clear who a major stand out was. Nick Chism! He got a huge box of Active and Element gear. As did Anthony Pshebelski after shredding the Harada park to bits!

Honorable mention goes to the gnarlies Melvin, Dakota, Patrick, Tristan, spiked helmet kid, and Adrian! There were way more, but I didn't get their names! Thanks to Mike Vallely for making it happen, and Element team manager Ryan DeWitt for coming correct w/ a ton of Element gear, and for rockin' Dead shirts once in a while!! See you at the next one!!
