Daryl Angel - Blogs the Nike Euro Trip

by Erica Yary - September 18th, 2008

Active Am, Skate Mental patient, and San Jose local, Daryl Angel’s first blog on ActiveRideShop.com

“So this past summer Nike decide to take a few of us on a full blown Euro trip. The trip consisted of myself, ‘’stunt wizard man” Justin Brock, good looking David Clark, and “the child” Grant Taylor. We skated quite a few places out there. We started our journey in Colonge, Germany, where I freshly got off the plane and went straight to skating… Talk about jetlag. I also forgot to mention, within the first few hours of skating, I decide to fall on my shoulder which caused it to get a minor separation. So being that I messed up my shoulder the first day, I was pretty bummed out. Luckily it healed up pretty quickly. I was back on the board in no time. I must also mention we rented a BMW and drove it on the Autobahn. Basically these are a few photos from my Euro Vacation. I’ll get some more up soon.” - Daryl Angel

New Active Rideshop Now Open!

by jordan kuka - September 17th, 2008

On September 4, 2008 Active opened it’s 27th store in southern California.  This new store has an amazing location right next to Petco Park in downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp District.  This isn’t just another store though, it’s the Active image; this store represents the Active lifestyle and tastes and really showcases who we are.  The store opening happened to fall on the same weekend as the ASR Tradeshow taking place at the convention center and so in sync with ASR and to help welcome the new store Active hosted a party that night.  There was also the added plus of an awesome in-store performance by Terry Kennedy.  Check out the photos and come check out the new store!

Incase Backpacks Accessories and Covers

by Mark Spider - September 16th, 2008

Incase - A Better Experience Through Good Design

Incase: a better experience through good design. Their motto couldn’t be more true. Incase is one of my favorite companies out there. They do accessories and cases better than anyone. I personally own the Nylon Slim Backpack,  the Protective Cover For IPhone, and the Guitar Dub bag. Their attention to detail in their designs are what make them the best. It’s like that old saying, There’s a place for everything, and everything in it’s place, I’m surprised their isn’t an Iphone holder in my Iphone holder. Later this year Incase will be launching their Paul Rodriguez signature line of bags, they look legit, and you know you’ll be able to get them right here at Active Ride Shop.

TOMS is Hitting the Fashion Scene

by jordan kuka - September 11th, 2008

Toms Shoes is a unique company that gives back to those in need.  For every pair a customer buys TOMS donates a pair to children in other countries who are in need.  Since 2006 TOMS has given over 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina and 50,000 pairs of shoes to children in South Arica and are continuing towards a goal of 200,000 pairs of shoes to children around the world who are in need by the end of 2008.  The amazing cause and dedication of TOMS Shoes has caught the eye of the fashion world.  What started out as a simple style that wasn’t at all fashion forward has become just that.  Their shoes are now seen everyday so many people and they’ve expanded on their colors and prints to offer a great selection and to catch the attention of new customers.  Recently they’ve stepped into the fashion scene even further with the Wrap boot, the same TOMS Shoes idea, but in the boot form.  These are starting to be seen on the streets and are becoming popular favorites.  Want to get some and take part in the TOMS cause?  Check out Active’s website here as well as visit the stores for your Wrap Boot purchase!

Show Me Your Pirates Contest [UPDATED!]

by Mark Spider - September 10th, 2008

UPDATE 8-7-08
UPDATED 8-14-08
UPDATED 9-10-08 -

NEW ENTRIES ADDED, CONTEST ENDS ON 9/30/08, SO GET YOUR SUBMISSIONS IN NOW! Show Me Your Pirates Contest

The Fourstar Street Pirate logo, the skull and crossboards serves as a banner for skaters everywhere to show their intent on pillaging and plundering everything on the street. Over the years, Fourstar Clothing has diced and sliced it up in more ways than can be remembered. Now Fourstar and Active are giving you the chance to make it look however you want. The directions are simple,

  1. Download the Street Pirate logo here
  2. Put your own spin on the logo by coloring it, rearranging it, adding to it, subtracting from it, or whatever else you can think of. Just make it your own.
  3. Send your submission to Pirates@activerideshop.com
  4. Check news.activerideshop.com frequently for updates. If we like your submission, (or hate it enough) we’ll put it on the site for everyone to see.
  5. The best Show Me Your Pirates logo submitted will be made into a Fourstar T-shirt graphic for their Fall 2009 collection.
